Doom: Annihilation will be the sequel to the 2005 Doom movie, which I haven’t seen (but never heard good things about).
No-one was clamouring for a sequel, and it’s been almost 15 years since the first one, so why bother? Movies based on videogames almost always stink to high heaven, especially as 2018’s Tomb Raider shows.
As dull as this looks, though, the new Doom makes the Sonic The Hedgehog movie seem like a good idea!
The premise for this junk is that the film follows a group of space marines as they respond to a distress call from a base on a Martian moon, only to discover it’s been overrun by demonic creatures who threaten to create Hell on Earth… so, basically, any Doom game.
Doom: Annihilation doesn’t yet have a UK or US release date. Let’s hope it stays that way. Or becomes an early April Fool!
Writer/Director: Tony Giglio
Stars: Amy Manson, Louis Mandylor, Hari Dhillon, Nina Bergman, Dominic Mafham, Jemma Moore
