Mr Corman – The DVDfever Review – Joseph Gordon-Levitt – Apple TV+

Mr Corman Mr Corman is an oddity of a series.

A pet project of Joseph Gordon-Levitt (The Walk, Inception), we see him beating his chest in the shower on a Friday (the caption specifies a date in 2019, for some reason. Why bother pointing out the date when it’s so recent? This is hardly a period piece) before he heads off to school to teach fifth grade students, who are ten going on eighteen.

What follows includes denting his car while driving home, partly while getting distracted by seeing a homeless man on the street; then a chat with his flatmate about deciding what to do on a Friday night, which leads to pulling a woman in a bar and what follows from there.

Basically, this is ‘a day in the life’, with each episode being roughly a day. But it’s less introspective, and more just navel-gazing.

Episode two shows he has health-related problems by getting anxiety from various issues in his life, all envisaged by a comet heading towards Earth, ready to wipe us out.

This one, however, did include amusing exchange when he went to a Breath Workshop which cost “Pay what you can“, and he didn’t know whether or not his suggestion of amounts to pay was too much or too small. The unhelpful woman at the front desk refused to give any pointers.

After two episodes, Mr Corman is an easy watch, but not really fulfilling and I can’t see what the point is, or where it’s going.

Mr Corman begins today on Apple TV+ with two episodes. After that, new episodes will be made available one per week on a Friday at 8am UK time.

Mr Corman is on Apple TV+ from today, but isn’t yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD.
