Mulberry Close is the third episode of Inside No.9 Series 9.
It’s the name of the street, and No.9 is where the CCTV is set up, with foxes irritating new owners Damon (Reece Shearsmith) and Val (Vinette Robinson – The Gathering), quickly getting a hello from Kenny (Steve Pemberton) and Sheila (Dorothy Atkinson – Saltburn) across the street, and their friend and near neighbour, Larry (Adrian Scarborough – Gavin And Stacey), who’s always out and about with his canine companion, Popcorn.
However, it doesn’t take long for a few irritants to set in, such as the newbies setting up outside for Halloween, because no-one elsedoes, and Sheila just thinks it’ll attract undesireables. But then, she also Sheila thinks electric cars run from an iPad, so unlike Popcorn, not all her dogs are barking.
There’s speculation about funny noises going on at all hours at No.9, with thenosey neighbours overspeculating, and if things are going a bit ‘off’, instead of contacting the police, can they, instead, sell it to Netflix?
Mulberry Close is like an episode of Brookside, when everyone’s assuming everyone else is up to no good, but what’s really going on?
Well, no spoilers here, obviously, because you’ll only find out by actually watching the programme.
However, from my initial obvservations, it’s safe to say that one irritating thing is how everyone parks in their drives by driving INTO them. NO! Reverse into your drive, so your car is facing the right way when you need to go out! In all cases, this would make the driver’s door on the same side as the front door!
Just a bugbear of mine 😀
Note that I originally posted a preview, but in converting this to a review – post-transmission, I have also added one cast credit below, but put their name behind a spoiler header, so you can’t see it accidentally.
