Super Troopers 3 comes not-very-hot-on-the-hells of 2001’s Super Troopers, and 2018’s Super Troopers 2 – a series I’d not heard of before, and while all the supposed movie critics were moaning about Ice Cream Man being allegedly bad, this one slipped under their radar.
The trailer made it looks like a funny comedy, but appearances can be deceptive, in this plotless tale, where Sarita (Hannah Simone) gets in a horrendous car crash, but is saved from certain death by cop Farva (Kevin Heffernan), leading to the subtitle of this film being revealed as “Farva’s Wedding“, since romance moves fast. Cop colleague Thorny (Jay Chandrasekhar) is her father, so isn’t looking forward to this chap calling him ‘Dad’, especially when he stays over, get an ‘Indian burn’ down below, and takes Thorny’s last beer from the fridge in order to… well, soothe his taint.
It does have ONE good joke about Farva watching the Gandhi sequel, Gandhi 2: Electric Vindaloo, but in the main, Super Troopers 3 gets stupidly childish when it attempts most humour, as Thorny tries to pull silly tricks in the form of a stag do, and to eek out the plot, another character wants to jump the creek in a cop car – simply because a pair of miscreants did the same thing, but the car in question is sentient and won’t allow it.
Elsewhere, trouble-in-love cops Foster (Paul Soter) has split from MILFy Ursula (Marisa Coughlan), and one of the characters ends up frozen in syrup, with the same look on his face as Han Solo in The Empire Strikes Back‘s carbonite scene.
Additionally, I didn’t know Brian Cox (Glenrothan) was in these films, so he bumbles in with no change to his accent. Here, he used to be the Captain, but has now been retired for 9 months, can’t think of anything to do with his days… so comes back to the office, spending a lot of time in the basement, inbetween telling everyone about his apparent girlfriend.

Super Troopers 3 is in cinemas now, but isn’t yet available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD. However, once announced, it will appear on the New DVD Blu-ray 3D and 4K releases UK list.
