The Family Stallone – The DVDfever Review – Paramount+ – Sylvester Stallone

The Family Stallone The Family Stallone clearly shows that Sly has decided the time is right for a reality show where we can keep up with the Stallones. I think another show had a similar title… so instead, this one is The Family Stallone.

The enduring actor tell us, from the set of Tulsa King, that he spends too much time on the road, now he’s getting old, and would rather be with his family more.

I expected this to be an hour per episode, but I’ve seen the first two, and it’s just 22-25 minutes apiece, but during that, everyone blows smoke up each others’ behinds, and although there’s a scene where they’re filming outside at the back of the house, some of them are STILL wearing trainers brought up onto the couches.

For those who are interested: in order of oldest to youngest, the daughters are Sophia (turning 27 on August 27th), Sistine (age 25 on June 27th), and Scarlet (Key-of-the-door 21 on May 25th).

Along the way, Sophia talks about her boyfriend who works elsewhere, so it’s a long-distance relationship, but can you imagine being told your prospective father-in-law is Sylvester Stallone? You’d expect him to tear you a new backside!

Aside from the Rocky and Rambo series, no-one in the family has had quite the same action CV, and for me, the ’90s were the best time with Demolition Man, The Specialist, Daylight, Cliffhanger, and Tango & Cash (okay, almost ’90s). Those other members of his family who’ve dabbled in Hollywood haven’t hit the same heights, so the only other acting heavyweight onscreen is Al Pacino, who briefly pops up at Stallone’s house.

In this series, it mixes in clips from his films, along with some earlier family home movies, and you don’t feel like you learn anything new from them, you’re just sort-of hanging out in their presence for the running time. As such, for me, two episodes was enough and I can barely remember anything I saw in it. But while I won’t be visiting The Family Stallone again, it’ll probably be a massive hit and run for 20 years.

Also, it’s interesting that Sly remarks he’s become happier as he’s got older, and Jennifer puts this down to her. Well, she’s got a better chance of stringing a sentence together.

When I went to see Bullet To The Head at the Odeon Trafford Centre in 2013, they made a point of telling me the screening I was going into was subtitled. I replied that was a good thing, as it was the only way I was going to be able to understand anything he said 😉

The Family Stallone is not available to pre-order on Blu-ray or DVD, but is on Paramount+ from Thursday May 18th.
