The Vanquishers – Doctor Who: Flux Series 13 Chapter 6 – The DVDfever Review

The Vanquishers

The Vanquishers is Chapter 6 in series 13 of Doctor Who, aka Doctor Who: Flux.

NOTE: There are some spoilers in this review.

Thankfully, this finally meant that the ramshackle Flux bollocks with celibate non-binary Doctor came to an end. Nothing’s made much sense as time goes on (literally).

The biggest problem is that it’s had too many characters and timezones into the same storyline, and the script from Chris Chibnall has been utterly risible.

This time, Kate Stewart from UNIT has gone back to 1901, or 1904 – wherever the Scooby Doo gang are, now. The Sontarans are also back and stupidly angry again. Can’t they get a life?

Meanwhile, The Doctor’s split across three realities? WTF?!

And the Doctor can only be saved by herself? WTF again?!

At one point, blowing up the Doctor would’ve been nice if the Sontarans had carried that through, but they didn’t bother. And an Ood turned up for some reason. Is anyone following this?

At another, she gives instructions to the Scooby Doo gang, adding “Do you know what to do?”, and they all nod. I haven’t a fucking clue! As one tweet I read said – it’s like someone dropped the pages of the script and picked them up in the wrong order. Hence, to me, it sounds like Boris Johnson reading his business speech and waffling on about Peppa Pig.

Later, towards the end, the lead Sontaran said, “WHAT. IS. HAPPENING?” Yep, me and you both, mate.

The last few minutes saw a mention of the Master, so no doubt that idiot will pop up before long. And certainly before Jodie Whittaker calls it a day, as she now just has three specials for us to sit through.

So, for The Vanquishers, did anyone understand what’s going on? If anyone can explain it, let me know in the comments below.

Oh, and at the end of it, why did Diane give Dan the cold shoulder? Nasty woman; Plus, were Yaz and The Doctor about to snog at the end?

Just think, when Russell T Davies comes back, it’ll be the same shite, just with even more added wokeness and diversity boxes being ticked.

See below, a tweet from a Doctor Who Fan Twitter account, with pics of Aisling Bea with the New Year’s Day cast.

Doctor Who returns on New Year’s Day, and Aisling Bea is about to get exterminated by a Dalek, it seems. Presumably because of that awful Home Alone remake.

Doctor Who: Flux can be pre-ordered on Limited Edition Blu-ray Steelbook, Blu-ray and DVD, ahead of its release on January 24th 2022.

You can also buy Series 12 on Blu-ray, DVD and Limited Edition Blu-ray Steelbook.

Also available is Revolution Of The Daleks on Blu-ray and DVD.

The episode is now on the BBC iPlayer.
