The Beguiled is a remake of Clint Eastwood’s 1971 western, directed by Don Siegel.
While imprisoned in a Confederate girls’ boarding school, an injured Union soldier cons his way into each of the lonely women’s hearts, causing them to turn on each other, and eventually, on him.
Directed by Sofia Coppola, who also wrote the screenplay based on the novel by Thomas Cullinan, the film stars Colin Farrell, Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, Elle Fanning and Angourie Rice, and this new trailer expands on the teaser, making it look well worth a watch.
I didn’t realise it was a remake when I first saw the trailer as it looks less like a Western and more like a supernatural thriller.
The Beguiled has had its UK release put back three weeks from June 23rd to July 14th.
