Millennium Falcon and X-Wing come to Berkshire – Star Wars Episode VII

Millennium FalconMillennium Falcon in a back yard in Berkshire? Plus an X-Wing? This was the chance find for Matthew Myatt from Airbourne Aviation, who was taking publicity shots for his flying school when he returned home to discover he’d inadvertently taken pictures of the Millennium Falcon and an X-Wing fighter for Star Wars Episode VII.

This follows on from the intentional release of the cast list picture in April.

Matthew commented: “It wasn’t too clear until I viewed the picture and then realised what it was. I grew up with Star Wars so I started jumping around.”

But why is there only half of the Millennium Falcon? For the same reason they only built half of the Titanic for the 1997 James Cameron movie – it’s too expensive to build a whole one, so in this case they’ll fill the rest in with digital effects, while for Titanic, for the ‘other side’ of the ship, they made everyone wear backwards clothes (i.e. the writing on them was back to front) and then ‘flipped’ the shots over so it looked like they were on the other side.

Star Wars Episode VII will be directed by J.J. Abrams, written by Lawrence Kasdan and J.J. Abrams, produced by Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk, and the composer, as ever, is John Williams.

Star Wars Episode VII will be released at cinemas on December 18th, 2015.
