UK Gold: “The Battle” of what…?
Yet another logo onscreen 24/7… (sigh)
- “Dear UK Gold and its controller Katie Barnard,
However, all I see is a lack of control as your channel is now inflicted withanother week-long logo for no reason at all.
“The Battle” of what? Looking ahead to the weekend’s schedules I can seesomething about “Monstrous Bosses” but your logo doesn’t work because itdoesn’t tell people of this, and to deface your channel yet again just showshow much contempt you have for your audience.
It’s actually “7 days to” yet more repeats, and nothing else. Here’s a tip,Miss Barnard, try showing programmes people want to watch instead of repeatingthe same few over and over and over again.
The only thing your logo does is to infuriate your viewers and cause people tounsubscribe.
I look forward to hearing from you – that’s if you do actually reply this time.

Next DVDfever update / Xbox Live…
Since late Saturday night my broadband connection’s been down so any subsequentonline updates have been uploaded on the old dial-up connection, which nowcosts me per-minute again since I long-since cancelled the 24/7 account Iused with 4thenet.
On Saturday I tried to install a Network Interface Card (NIC) and activateInternet Connection Sharing in Windows 98SE so I can run Xbox Live, but somewherealong the line my Pipex ADSL (broadband) connection went down. Whether it wasdue to what I’d done I’ve no idea, but I’ve removed and uninstalled that card, uninstalled and reinstalled my ADSL’s drivers, and since I was having troublelogging on to even a 56K dial-up connection at first I asked BT to test my line.
At first, my Pipex broadband connection was connecting, but was very sluggishand wouldn’t actually get moving so I couldn’t use it at all. Now it justrefuses to connect.
I’m hoping it’s down to the BT exchange, since I’ve heard from others who usePipex that they had no problems with the ADSL connection yesterday, but I needto contact Pipex first and get a six-digit reference number before BT can lookinto it.
I’m hoping this will be sorted out very quickly, but for anyone who’s tryingto contact me can they please copy any emails to my work address – which anyPR companies and anyone I know who may try to get in touch will know.
Obviously, if there is a delay between now and the next DVDfever updateyou’ll know why.
STATUS UPDATE: The problem has now been solved. After uninstalling andreinstalling the ADSL broadband modem drivers this morning, I made a note ofthe settings it required but forgot to check them when reinstalling the drivers. Can’t believe that was the answer as that’s sorted it out. I should removethis section on the news page now but I’ll leave it in just in case anyoneelse has the problem in the future and this reminds them to check this aspect.
I have now reinstalled the NIC, installed the drivers and followed theinstructions on the following page to the letter and it’s worked perfectly firsttime! Why couldn’t it do this on Saturday night?!
My Gamertag is DVDfever and hello to ACR, Point X Blank, The Tapper,Stonie Montana and the rest who were playing on my debut Live game on MotoGPat nearly 4am last night 🙂
